Interim Finance Director

This is a hands-on, broad leadership role at a fast-growth SME near Oxford, initially scoped to six months. The Finance Director will own end-to-end financial operations, combining robust financial control and reporting with strategic planning and commercial decision support.

The right candidate will come from a fast-growth, startup, or PE/VC-backed environment and will help the business navigate its next stage of growth while strengthening its financial infrastructure, processes, and capabilities. The role involves close partnership with the executive team and regular Board-level reporting.

• Lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial modelling
• Produce management accounts, statutory reporting, and manage the annual audit process
• Partner with operational leadership on commercial, investment, and strategic decisions
• Own treasury, cash-flow management, working capital, and capital planning
• Strengthen financial controls, systems, policies, and processes to support continued growth
• Lead, develop, and manage the finance team through a period of organisational complexity

• Fully qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
• Significant experience leading a finance function at Finance Director or equivalent level
• Track record of partnering with CEOs, Boards, and executive leadership teams
• Experience in a fast-growth SME, startup, or PE/VC-backed environment
• Demonstrable success improving financial controls, reporting, and systems
• Confident communicator comfortable presenting to Boards and senior stakeholders
