Interim Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

A North American professional services organisation with multiple locations requires an experienced FP&A leader on an interim basis. Reporting to the CFO, the Director will stabilise and coordinate the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, working hands-on in an Excel-based environment while partnering closely with operational and finance stakeholders across the business.

Beyond delivering the immediate budget cycle, the role carries a mandate to identify process bottlenecks, improve data quality, recommend practical automation opportunities, and lay the groundwork for a more scalable FP&A function. The expected engagement is 90 days, with clear outcomes tied to forecasting accuracy, governance, and a future-state FP&A roadmap.

• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, managing timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to a team of four FP&A professionals.
• Partner with budget owners and operational leaders to develop, validate, and challenge financial assumptions.
• Consolidate budget submissions and perform detailed variance, risk, and opportunity analysis.
• Build financial models and scenario analyses to support senior leadership decision-making.
• Identify inefficiencies in current planning processes and recommend automation and technology improvements.

• 10 or more years of progressive finance, FP&A, and business planning experience in complex organisations.
• Prior experience in an FP&A Director, Finance Director, or equivalent senior interim finance role.
• Demonstrated track record leading large-scale budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams through periods of change.
• Advanced Excel modelling capability and comfort operating in less structured finance environments.
• Exposure to FP&A platforms, Power BI, or similar planning and automation tools considered an asset.
