Fractional CFO

Kforce is placing a fractional CFO with a nonprofit client in the South Bronx. The role suits a seasoned nonprofit CFO or an experienced Controller ready to step into a CFO-level position. The successful candidate will operate across both strategic and tactical functions, guiding the organisation through process improvements, financial oversight, and team development. Availability to work onsite two to three days per week is required.

Responsibilities span day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, GAAP-compliant reporting, government grants and contract management, audit liaison duties, and mentoring the internal finance team. The role also involves partnering with operational leaders to support sound organisational decision-making.

• Provide strategic financial guidance and leadership to executive management
• Oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including month-end close and General Ledger
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting
• Administer government grants and contract accounting, billing, reporting, and compliance
• Support audit preparation and act as liaison to external auditors
• Review and strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures
• Mentor finance staff and help establish accountability, best practices, and a high-performing finance function

• 10 or more years of progressive nonprofit accounting and finance leadership experience
• Significant experience managing government grants and contracts
• Demonstrated oversight of audits, month-end close, and General Ledger accounting
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial reporting
• Hands-on management style with the ability to balance strategy and execution
• Ability to work onsite in the South Bronx two to three days per week
