Chief Financial Officer (Part-Time)

This is a fractional CFO engagement with a privately held, multi-entity business led by an owner-operator who is actively seeking strategic financial leadership for the first time. The business has historically relied on a controller and small accounting team focused on transactional work. The incoming CFO will shift the function toward forward-looking analysis, profitability management, and structured planning across each company in the portfolio.

The role suits an experienced finance leader comfortable operating in an SMB environment on a flexible, part-time basis. You will work closely with the owner and business unit leaders to identify improvement opportunities, implement budgeting and forecasting systems, evaluate acquisitions and divestitures, and build risk controls appropriate to each entity.

• Analyse profitability by company, line of business, product, and customer to surface actionable insights
• Develop short and long-term strategic financial plans aligned to each business unit's potential
• Implement budgeting, forecasting, and KPI-driven performance management frameworks
• Lead process improvement, technology adoption, and automation initiatives to reduce costs and increase efficiency
• Evaluate acquisition and divestiture opportunities in collaboration with the owner and business leaders
• Identify financial and operational risks across entities and design appropriate controls and mitigation strategies

• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally as a CFO or VP Finance in an SMB or multi-entity environment
• Strong FP&A background including financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting
• Experience with M&A evaluation, due diligence, and transaction support
• Comfortable working alongside controllers and small accounting teams without a large support structure
• Track record of leading change and implementing process improvements in owner-led or founder-led businesses
• Ability to operate effectively on a part-time or fractional schedule across multiple priorities
