Fractional CFO | Innovative Climate-Tech Scale-Up | Bristol

This founder-led climate-tech business is transitioning from startup to scale-up, backed by angel investment and UK government grants. It operates in a capital-intensive corner of industrial decarbonisation and is preparing for a significant institutional raise. The fractional CFO will work directly alongside the CEO and the existing finance team, owning the integrated financial model, valuation work, capital strategy, investor materials, and due diligence through to term-sheet close.

The engagement is expected to run at roughly two to three days per week, with the ability to ramp up around key pitch sprints. The role is initially fractional or interim, with a genuine pathway to becoming a permanent appointment as the business scales. Core days will be on site in Bristol, with travel to London and occasionally Europe for investor meetings.

• Lead preparation for a Series A equity raise and manage the process through to close.
• Build and maintain the integrated financial model, valuation framework, and capital strategy.
• Produce investor-ready materials and develop the financial narrative behind the equity story.
• Manage the financial due diligence process and support term-sheet negotiation.
• Navigate a blended funding structure spanning venture equity, grants, and project finance.
• Present alongside the CEO to investors, partners, and external stakeholders.

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or qualified by experience at CFO level.
• Demonstrated record of personally leading and closing a substantial institutional equity raise.
• Comfortable operating with pre-revenue technology businesses across grants, project finance, and venture equity.
• Background in climate-tech, cleantech, deep-tech, energy, or another capital-intensive technology sector strongly preferred.
• Confident presenting alongside a founder to investors and external stakeholders.
• Able to attend the Bristol site for core working days.
