Grayson HR seeks a Fractional CFO to provide strategic financial leadership across multiple small-to-mid-sized business client engagements, advising CEOs on growth, liquidity, compliance, and financial process improvement.
The Fractional CFO serves as a senior financial advisor and client-facing executive for Grayson HR's portfolio of small-to-mid-sized business clients. Managing multiple engagements simultaneously, you will guide client CEOs through critical growth and liquidity decisions, establish robust internal controls, and oversee accounting infrastructure. Work is delivered using the firm's standardised workflows and cloud-based tooling, including QuickBooks Online and Canopy.
Monthly deliverables include complete financial statement packages, updated KPI dashboards, and client advisory review sessions. Quarterly responsibilities cover strategic financial reviews, updated forecast models, and compliance assessments. Ad hoc work includes margin analyses, scenario modelling, and QBO cleanup projects.
- Serve as the primary strategic financial advisor to client CEOs, covering liquidity strategies, margin optimisation, cost structures, and growth forecasting
- Oversee month-end close processes and review Controller work product to ensure GAAP alignment and audit readiness
- Review and standardise financial workflows within client QuickBooks Online environments and the firm's Canopy platform
- Build and maintain 13-week rolling cash flow models and forward-looking financial forecasts, including customised KPI dashboards
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable advice for non-financial founders and boards
- Manage all client milestones, task assignments, and timeline statuses transparently within internal systems
- Demonstrated experience advising business owners on cash runway management and influencing executive financial decisions
- Strong mastery of QuickBooks Online and solid knowledge of internal controls, compliance risks, and full month-end close cycles
- Experience working within integrated accounting ecosystems including QBO, Canopy, Bill.com, and Gusto
- Ability to build forward-looking cash models, DSO analyses, and pricing models with high analytical rigour
- Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to advise non-financial clients clearly in a remote environment
- Comfortable managing multiple concurrent client engagements with competing deadlines
