Global Carbon Market Utility seeks an experienced finance consultancy to provide fractional CFO services, covering strategic finance leadership, cross-border statutory compliance, audit coordination, and treasury management across US and UK operations.
Global Carbon Market Utility (GCMU) is a newly established financial market utility that operates as the underlying book of record for the carbon market. The organisation provides registry infrastructure for projects, credits, and transactions, built to meet the requirements of auditors, regulators, and large financial institutions operating in carbon finance.
GCMU is seeking a UK-based finance consultancy to deliver fractional CFO services on a business-to-business basis. The engagement covers day-to-day finance operations, statutory and tax compliance across both US and UK entities, audit coordination, treasury and banking setup, intercompany and transfer pricing arrangements, and financial reporting to the board and investors. The role is suited to a consultancy comfortable building finance processes from the ground up within a cross-border group structure. Indicative commitment is approximately 15 hours per week on a rolling term with 30 days notice.

- Manage day-to-day finance operations including bookkeeping oversight, accounts payable and receivable, and cash management
- Conduct month-end close and produce management reporting for the CEO, Chief of Staff, and board
- Coordinate statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, and audit obligations across UK and US entities
- Establish and manage banking arrangements, including USD and GBP wire and ACH capability
- Oversee transfer pricing and intercompany arrangements for intellectual property licensing between group entities
- Evaluate and implement finance systems, workflows, and controls to support growth and regulatory compliance
- Senior finance leadership experience as a Finance Director or CFO, preferably on a fractional or interim basis
- Strong statutory reporting, tax, and transfer pricing experience across both UK and US jurisdictions
- Familiarity with FRS 102 or IFRS for UK accounts and US GAAP, IRS, FASB ASC, and Companies House obligations
- Experience building finance processes and controls within newly formed organisations
- Ability to communicate financial and structural matters clearly to executive leadership and board
- Operating as a personal service company or limited company, consistent with a genuine B2B consultancy arrangement outside IR35
