Fractional Chief Financial Officer

ScaleUp Financial Solutions provides fractional finance and accounting services to startups and high-growth companies across a range of industries. The company operates on a fully remote basis and structures its model to balance strong client service with reasonable workloads for its finance professionals.

The fractional CFO will support multiple client engagements simultaneously, covering financial planning and analysis, cash flow modelling, GAAP accounting oversight, investor and board reporting, fundraising support, and M&A assistance. The role suits a seasoned finance executive with venture-backed company experience, particularly in SaaS, AI, Deep Tech, or Consumer Products. The initial commitment is 10 to 20 hours per week, with scope to increase for candidates seeking fuller hours. The position is structured as a W-2 engagement with ScaleUp, with compensation passed through as a percentage of the billable hourly rate.

• Serve as a strategic finance advisor across multiple client engagements, providing recommendations on capital planning, fundraising, pricing, and corporate structure.
• Produce financial statements, KPI tracking, budget-to-actual reports, and investor and board presentations.
• Build and maintain financial forecasts, cash flow models, and FP&A processes.
• Oversee GAAP accounting and ensure accounting policies and processes are properly documented.
• Support fundraising activities, including investor presentations, term-sheet negotiations, and due diligence responses.
• Assist with M&A activities including buy- and sell-side due diligence, exit planning, and managing relationships with banks and tax advisors.

• 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, including at least 7 years in a CFO capacity.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, and FP&A.
• Experience with venture-backed companies and venture capital fundraising processes.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel; familiarity with Bill.com, Ramp, and Gusto is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent client engagements in a billable-hours environment.
• Experience engaging with C-suite leaders, boards, and investors; CPA or MBA preferred.
