A fractional CFO to guide a high-growth financial services company through SEC registration and public company readiness, owning finance operations, reporting infrastructure, and compliance controls.
Flying Horse Capital is seeking a Fractional CFO on behalf of a strategic partner, a fintech company building payments, accounts, and trading solutions, that is preparing to become an SEC registrant. The hire will lead the full public company transition: establishing reporting infrastructure, SOX-compliant internal controls, and a finance calendar fit for ongoing public company operations.
Working directly with the CEO, board, auditors, and legal counsel, this is a hands-on technical role requiring deep US GAAP knowledge, direct SEC reporting experience, and the ability to operate as both strategist and executor in a lean, fast-moving environment. CPA required; Big 4 background strongly preferred.
- Lead SEC registration and ongoing regulatory filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and registration statements
- Identify and close gaps in technical accounting, close processes, and financial statement preparation under US GAAP
- Design and implement SOX-compliant internal controls and prepare for 404 readiness
- Manage the external audit relationship and the PCAOB audit process
- Build disclosure controls, the public company finance calendar, and audit committee reporting
- Assess finance team capability and recommend hiring or outsourcing to support permanent public company operations
- 10 or more years in finance and accounting leadership, including CFO, VP Finance, or Controller roles
- Direct, hands-on SEC reporting experience, including taking a company public or leading reporting at a public company
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC Regulation S-X/S-K, and SOX
- Background in financial services, fintech, payments, or trading platforms
- CPA required; Big 4 background strongly preferred
- Comfortable in lean, fast-moving environments, operating as both strategist and hands-on contributor
