An interim CFO is needed to lead a PE-backed healthcare carve-out, building an independent finance function, executing financial separation, and establishing reliable sponsor and lender reporting.
This interim CFO engagement supports a private equity firm executing a healthcare carve-out, with an immediate need to separate the business from its parent company and establish it as a fully independent entity. The role is hands-on, requiring an experienced finance leader comfortable building systems, teams and controls under tight timelines and with limited existing infrastructure.
The CFO will oversee all separation activities, including standalone financial statements, an opening balance sheet, ERP and treasury implementation, payroll setup, and transition services agreement management. Ongoing responsibilities include 13-week cash flow forecasts, operating budgets, KPI packages, lender covenant monitoring, and healthcare revenue cycle oversight. The engagement concludes with a structured handoff to a permanent CFO.
- Lead financial separation from the parent company, including standalone carve-out financial statements and the opening balance sheet.
- Build the chart of accounts, month-end close process, internal controls and accounting policies from the ground up.
- Select and implement ERP, banking, treasury and payroll systems to support independent operations.
- Deliver monthly financial reporting, KPI packages and board materials to the private equity sponsor and lenders.
- Oversee healthcare revenue cycle performance, payer mix, reimbursement and accounts receivable.
- Recruit key finance personnel and support the onboarding of the permanent CFO through an orderly transition.
- 15 or more years of progressive finance experience, including CFO or senior finance leadership roles.
- Direct, hands-on experience executing a carve-out or corporate separation.
- Healthcare industry background in provider organisations, healthcare services or related sectors.
- Demonstrated experience working within a PE-backed business and managing sponsor reporting requirements.
- Immediate availability and willingness to travel as required.
- Preferred: CPA designation, prior interim or fractional CFO experience, and familiarity with TSAs, purchase accounting and quality of earnings processes.
