Interim Chief Financial Officer

This interim CFO role sits within a global operations and performance improvement consultancy, placed with client organisations undergoing financial or operational distress. The executive will take hands-on ownership of accounting, controllership, cost and inventory accounting, and plant-level financial operations, while partnering with the executive team to protect enterprise value. The engagement is structured as an approximately three-month contract based in Toronto.

The role requires diagnosing root causes of margin erosion and reporting failures, rebuilding budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing transparent, credible reporting to ownership, lenders, and boards. Candidates with private equity or lender-facing experience are well suited to this assignment.

• Assess current finance processes, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions across accounting, reporting, and internal controls
• Lead all controllership activities including month-end close, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial statement accuracy
• Diagnose root-cause issues affecting profitability, cost structure, and reporting reliability
• Implement turnaround initiatives covering cost reduction, margin improvement, pricing discipline, and overhead rationalisation
• Rebuild budgeting, forecasting, KPI dashboards, and performance cadence routines
• Provide clear reporting and risk identification to ownership, lenders, and boards throughout the interim period

• 15 or more years of progressive finance leadership, including Controller or CFO roles in manufacturing environments
• Demonstrated success leading turnarounds, restructurings, or distressed-asset stabilisation
• Deep expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and plant-level financial operations
• Strong command of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting integrity
• Experience partnering with private equity firms or lender groups is preferred
• Willingness to be on-site and fully embedded with the client in Toronto for the duration of the contract
