This interim CFO engagement sits within a hospital or health system environment, requiring a finance leader who can step in quickly and operate hands-on across all core financial disciplines. The role spans accounting, FP&A, treasury, revenue cycle oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting, with direct accountability to executive leadership and the Board.
Beyond day-to-day financial operations, the role involves evaluating operating margins, labour costs, and service-line profitability, while supporting revenue cycle performance across patient collections, payer mix, denials, and AR. The successful candidate will also assist with the transition to a permanent CFO, including documentation and knowledge transfer.
- Lead all financial operations across accounting, FP&A, treasury, revenue cycle oversight, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to executive leadership and the Board
- Drive cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and working capital initiatives
- Evaluate operating performance, service-line profitability, labour costs, and key hospital financial metrics
- Partner with operational leaders to strengthen financial discipline and support strategic decision-making
- Manage relationships with auditors, lenders, and banks, and support capital planning and cost reduction efforts
- Prior CFO or senior financial leadership experience within a hospital or health system
- Strong understanding of nonprofit healthcare financial operations, including Medicare/Medicaid, managed care, and payer mix
- Proven ability to manage cash flow, liquidity, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting in a complex environment
- Experience presenting financial results and recommendations to Boards and executive leadership
- Demonstrated capability to stabilise finance functions and lead teams through change in an interim or transformation setting
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced credential preferred
