DTC Direct Response Beauty Brand
Fractional CFO at DTC Direct Response Beauty Brand
A fractional CFO engagement with an eight-figure DTC beauty brand, working directly with the founder and COO to build cash forecasting, contribution margin models, and operational financial visibility.
This brand operates a subscription-first DTC ecommerce model at significant scale and is growing rapidly. Financial infrastructure has not kept pace with revenue, leaving leadership without contribution margin by SKU or channel, no cash forecast, and limited visibility into inventory carrying costs. The books are handled by a bookkeeper, but there is no senior financial operator shaping decisions.
The fractional CFO will embed with the founder and COO to rebuild the chart of accounts, build a rolling 13-week cash forecast tied to purchase order timing, model contribution margin by SKU and channel (including landed cost, fulfilment, payment processing, and ad spend), and develop dashboards that leadership actually runs on. The role also covers subscription cohort economics, demand planning alignment, vendor payment terms improvement, and preparation for potential inventory or growth financing.
- Build and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast aligned to purchase order timing and 65-day lead times
- Model contribution margin by SKU and channel, incorporating landed cost, fulfilment, payment processing, and ad spend
- Rebuild the chart of accounts and restructure P&L reporting so the numbers drive decisions
- Partner with the COO and supply chain manager to tie inventory commitments to a forward forecast
- Develop subscription cohort economics including payback period, LTV by cohort, and customer acquisition cost thresholds
- Produce weekly and monthly financial dashboards, and support improvement of vendor and payment terms to free up working capital
- Proven experience as a fractional or operational CFO for DTC ecommerce brands at $20M to $50M+ in annual revenue, ideally subscription-based with physical inventory
- Deep understanding of contribution margin, cash conversion cycles, and demand planning in long-lead-time supply chains
- Track record of rebuilding disorganised charts of accounts and improving financial reporting quality
- Strong command of subscription economics including cohorts, payback periods, and LTV modelling
- Fluent in QuickBooks and Shopify; comfortable with subscription platforms and attribution tooling
- Experience influencing large purchase order decisions and, as a bonus, lender relationships or inventory financing experience
DTC Direct Response Beauty Brand is an eight-figure direct-to-consumer beauty business operating on a subscription-first model. The company has strong paid acquisition and creative capability and is scaling toward $20M per month in revenue. It is seeking senior financial leadership to match its operational ambition.
