Fractional CFO, Construction (Sage 100 Contractor)

CounselFi is a fractional CFO and back-office firm serving construction and trades businesses across the United States. This engagement places an experienced construction CFO as the primary finance partner for a custom home builder, with scope to take on additional CounselFi client engagements over time.

The role is structured as an independent contractor arrangement, fully remote, at approximately 20 hours per month for the initial client. You will work alongside a senior financial analyst and client success team, leading monthly strategy calls, overseeing a 10-business-day month-end close, and building the financial infrastructure the owner needs to run a disciplined construction business.

• Serve as the lead CFO and day-to-day strategic finance partner for the client
• Lead monthly CFO strategy calls with the business owner
• Review and present monthly financial packages, WIP schedules, and job cost performance
• Build and maintain the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and longer-term projections
• Define KPIs and support CEO dashboards and operational scorecards
• Oversee the month-end close process in partnership with the client's accounting team

• 10 or more years of construction finance experience at CFO or controller level
• Hands-on expertise in Sage 100 Contractor, including job cost, WIP, cost to complete, GL budgets, and Report Designer
• Strong command of percentage-of-completion accounting, over and under billings, retainage, and committed costs
• Experience advising owners of construction businesses in the $10M to $50M revenue range
• Confident communicator comfortable leading conversations directly with business owners
