ChipIn
Fractional CFO at ChipIn (Fintech / Device Subscription Infrastructure)
Pre-seed UK fintech building device subscription checkout infrastructure for independent electronics retailers. The fractional CFO will lead lender negotiations and support the fundraising process.
ChipIn (operating as Techster) is building checkout infrastructure that enables independent UK electronics retailers to offer device subscriptions, retaining customers at upgrade rather than losing them to larger competitors. The business is pre-seed, pre-revenue, with an MVP deployed and a co-founder in place covering commercial and go-to-market. A £750K pre-seed raise is being targeted, with retailer letters of intent as the current priority before investor conversations begin in earnest.
Compensation is equity only, up to 10% vested over time and tied to delivery milestones. This reflects the central importance of the finance partner relationship and the raise to the company's existence. No cash is on offer at this stage.
- Validate and sanity-check the financial model ahead of the pre-seed raise process.
- Participate in investor conversations where a credible CFO presence changes the outcome.
- Drive specialty lender negotiations through to signed heads of terms.
- Provide light-touch guidance on FCA consumer hire authorisation as it arises.
- Help structure and hold together the overall fundraising process.
- UK-based with active experience in the UK market, including familiarity with UK specialty lenders and FCA-regulated lending.
- Senior background in lending, asset finance, consumer credit, or capital markets.
- Credible enough to be treated as a peer by lender credit committees and institutional investors without introduction.
- Comfortable operating fractionally alongside other commitments.
- Exposure to point-of-sale finance, device or asset leasing, or residual value modelling is a strong advantage.
ChipIn is a pre-seed UK fintech building device subscription infrastructure under the Techster brand, aimed at independent electronics retailers.
