Fractional CFO - Part Time Contract

This part-time contract engagement calls for a Fractional CFO to provide hands-on financial leadership focused on developing a sustainable, audit-ready accounting function. The successful candidate will work directly with executive leadership on strategic financial matters while coaching the Controller and Senior Accountant to operate with greater independence. The role spans internal controls design, month-end close standardisation, compliance, risk management, and treasury oversight.

Rather than routine day-to-day accounting management, the focus is on leaving lasting infrastructure. The ideal candidate holds a CPA, brings 10 or more years of progressive finance experience including CFO or Controller-level leadership, and has a track record of preparing organisations for external audits and building documented procedures that endure beyond the engagement.

• Mentor and develop the Controller and Senior Accountant, strengthening technical skills, month-end close processes, and financial reporting capabilities.
• Design, document, and implement internal controls across cash handling, revenue recognition, payroll, and expense management.
• Establish standardised month-end close and reconciliation procedures with comprehensive supporting documentation.
• Prepare the organisation for annual external audits, coordinating with auditors and addressing potential findings proactively.
• Review monthly financial statements and key performance metrics ahead of leadership and Board reporting.
• Advise executive leadership on financial reporting, compliance, risk management, treasury, debt structure, and financial analysis.

• CPA designation required.
• 10 or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including CFO and/or Controller-level leadership.
• Demonstrated success preparing organisations for external audits or leading audit engagements.
• Deep knowledge of internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial reporting best practices.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting concepts into practical guidance for non-finance stakeholders.
