Apotech, a life science management consultancy, seeks a fractional CFO to provide strategic financial leadership, partnering with co-founders and overseeing the Finance Manager across UK, French, and planned US operations.
Apotech delivers outsourced Quality and Regulatory services to the life sciences sector. The fractional CFO will work alongside the co-founders and an in-house Finance Manager, taking ownership of financial strategy, board reporting, and long-range planning as the business scales across the UK, France, and into the US market.
The role covers multi-currency cash and treasury management, consolidated reporting across UK and French entities, pricing strategy, commission structure design, and tax and audit oversight. The CFO will also lead financial planning for US expansion, including entity setup, tax structuring, and transfer pricing, while coaching the Finance Manager and building broader team capability over time.
- Act as a strategic finance partner to the co-founders, providing insight and challenge on commercial and financial decisions
- Own the board reporting narrative and KPI framework, translating monthly management accounts into actionable recommendations
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across revenue, costs, headcount, and cash flow
- Oversee multi-currency cash flow, working capital, and treasury management across UK and French operations
- Lead financial planning for US expansion, covering entity setup, tax structuring, and transfer pricing
- Coach and develop the Finance Manager and build broader finance team capability as the function grows
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or Fractional CFO
- Background in consulting or professional services finance, including project-based and time-and-materials pricing models
- Experience managing or mentoring an in-house finance manager or small finance team
- Working knowledge of UK accounting; familiarity with French GAAP and ideally US GAAP
- Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation and reporting
- Proficiency in Xero or comparable cloud accounting platforms, with strong financial modelling and Excel skills
