Lead technical development of spectral X-ray imaging technology from TRL 3 to validated prototype for DOD/DHS applications.
Full Spectrum Imaging seeks a Fractional CTO to drive technical development of IDIA, a Randomised Foil Mask and Compressed Sensing reconstruction system that adds spectral information to existing X-ray detectors. This role involves leading prototype development from TRL 3 to validation, working with government partners across NIH, DHS, and NSF.
This is an equity-only founder-level position until first government contract or partnership revenue closes. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in X-ray physics with entrepreneurial drive to build a hardware-software solution for medical, security, and industrial imaging applications.
- Lead design of Randomised Foil Mask including material selection and manufacturing path
- Direct Compressed Sensing reconstruction algorithm development with consulting experts
- Own development and execution of comprehensive test plans
- Build prediction-chain software pipeline using SpekPy, NIST data, and detector models
- Serve as technical voice in proposals and customer engagements
- Shape technical narrative across government agencies and OEM partners
- Strong technical aptitude in X-ray or CT physics including tube spectra and reconstruction methods
- Experience with Compressed Sensing theory and implementation
- Background in hardware integration or detector systems
- Entrepreneurial mindset with willingness to work for equity initially
- Ability to work 5-10 hours per week remotely in US timezone
- PhD student, postdoc, or early-career scientist/engineer preferred
