Interim Chief Technology Officer

This senior contract role sits within a large, distributed organisation operating across more than 100 sites. The Interim CTO will report directly to the Chief Information Officer and hold strategic and operational accountability for enterprise infrastructure, including network architecture, cloud environments, data centres, access control, and end-user computing. On-site presence is required four to five days per week.

The engagement spans three to six months and involves guiding infrastructure teams responsible for cloud networking, hardware lifecycle, device support, systems administration, and third-party vendor relationships. The role also requires driving modernisation initiatives aligned with both organic growth and acquisition activity, ensuring scalability and regulatory compliance throughout.

• Lead strategic and operational oversight of enterprise infrastructure, including network architecture, cloud operations, and data centre environments.
• Manage direct reports across core infrastructure services such as hardware lifecycle, device support, systems administration, and vendor relationships.
• Monitor KPIs and service availability to maintain high performance and uptime across enterprise platforms.
• Support voice, data, wireless, and communication systems across headquarters and distributed satellite locations.
• Drive modernisation initiatives that align infrastructure with enterprise growth, including acquisition integration and efficiency improvements.
• Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring for third-party infrastructure and cloud service providers.

• 10 or more years of progressive experience in network infrastructure, systems engineering, or IT operations leadership.
• Minimum five years managing technical teams with budgetary accountability.
• Strong understanding of networking, cloud environments, systems integration, cybersecurity, and endpoint management.
• Experience leading infrastructure programmes in regulated environments, with financial services background preferred.
• Demonstrated vendor management capability, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.
• Bachelor's degree in technology, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
