Fractional/Interim CFO

This is a hands-on fractional engagement placed through Syncopated Synergy, a boutique interim finance leadership firm. The successful consultant will embed directly with a client organisation, assuming full responsibility for financial strategy, operations, and reporting throughout a defined transition period. The goal is to stabilise the finance function and set the organisation up for a smooth handover to permanent leadership.

The engagement runs on a 1099 or W2 hourly contract basis, averaging 10 to 20 hours per week at USD 135 to 165 per hour. Candidates must be US-based, with a preference for those located in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or New Mexico. This is a consulting arrangement and is not a pathway to direct client employment.

• Lead financial strategy, planning, and reporting across the client organisation
• Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and treasury management
• Develop and evaluate KPIs, and build or optimise FP&A models
• Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership and board members, including on M&A and capital structure
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards
• Document processes thoroughly and prepare a structured handover for incoming permanent leadership

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; CPA or MBA preferred
• Eight to fifteen or more years in senior finance leadership, at CFO level or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to operate hands-on while also advising at executive and board level
• Strong business acumen with experience influencing strategic decisions
• Proficiency with finance and accounting software platforms
• US-based; preference for candidates in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or New Mexico
