Consulting Chief Financial Officer

NOW CFO is looking for an experienced CFO Consultant to serve a portfolio of clients across the Denver, Colorado market. The role combines deep operational accounting responsibilities with strategic financial leadership, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, cash flow forecasting, and audit readiness. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable managing day-to-day ledger work and presenting financial strategy to boards and investors.

Beyond core accounting, this role involves leading buy-side M&A processes from target identification through post-close integration, managing multi-entity consolidations across international footprints, and serving as a strategic partner to CEOs and investors. Experience with cross-border compliance, including transfer pricing, foreign currency translation, and VAT/GST, is essential. ERP implementation and data analytics initiatives also fall within scope.

• Own all accounting operations including month-end close, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and audit readiness
• Design and enforce financial policies and internal controls to ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance
• Lead buy-side M&A activity from target identification through post-close integration, including financial due diligence, valuation, LBO modelling, and quality-of-earnings analysis
• Manage multi-entity consolidations for clients with international operations, navigating transfer pricing, foreign currency translation, and VAT/GST requirements
• Act as a strategic partner to CEOs, boards, and investors, driving budgeting and long-range planning
• Mentor finance teams and lead ERP and data analytics initiatives to improve financial visibility and decision-making

• CPA required; MBA strongly preferred, with 12 or more years of progressive financial leadership including at least 5 years as CFO or VP of Finance
• Demonstrated hands-on accounting experience, including personally managing close processes, preparing financial statements, and maintaining ledgers
• Proven buy-side M&A track record with direct experience in financial due diligence, LBO modelling, and post-close integration
• Substantive international finance experience covering multi-currency consolidations, foreign subsidiary management, and cross-border regulatory compliance
• Expert knowledge of GAAP, advanced Excel financial modelling, and proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite or SAP; working knowledge of IFRS is advantageous
• Experience in a consulting or fractional CFO environment serving multiple clients concurrently is preferred
