Fractional Chief Financial Officer (Contract Role)

This contract role sits within Dean Dorton's advisory practice, placing a senior financial leader inside client organisations across industries such as manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and distribution. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Dean Dorton team members and client stakeholders to improve accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal processes.

Engagements run for six months or more, requiring the CFO to guide executive leadership on key business decisions, build robust financial models, and ensure compliance with applicable reporting standards. The role suits an experienced finance executive comfortable working across multiple client environments simultaneously.

• Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute long-term financial strategy
• Build and maintain financial models, budgets, forecasts, and scenario analyses
• Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting workflows
• Present financial insights to leadership teams, boards, and investors in clear, actionable terms
• Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to improve budget management and efficiency

• Proven track record as a CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent senior financial leader
• Strong expertise in FP&A, capital strategy, financial department structuring, and growth strategy
• Experience across varied industries including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, or distribution is advantageous
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for engaging with senior executives and cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards in corporate finance
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred
