Interim Academy Director & Success Coach (Contract Role)

This is a 10-month contract (1099) running August 2026 to May 2027, requiring 10 to 20 hours per week. The Interim Academy Director serves as the educational and operational leader of ANANSI Academy, a grades 6-12 independent micro-school in Washington, D.C. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on instruction, as the director is also expected to function as a Success Coach and deliver direct classroom support during the first year.

The position reports to the Executive Director and President, working closely with the Board of Trustees on governance, long-term planning, and policy. With an anticipated enrolment of two to five students in the 2026-2027 school year, the role demands flexibility, a commitment to personalised and mastery-based learning, and strong community relationship management across the D.C. region.

• Articulate and advance the school's mission, vision, and strategic priorities in partnership with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees
• Oversee curriculum development, instructional quality, and student learning outcomes
• Deliver direct classroom instruction and success coaching as required within the micro-school model
• Manage daily school operations including scheduling, communications, student records, and compliance files
• Lead fundraising efforts, donor relations, and institutional advancement activities
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with families, community members, and external organisations across the D.C. region

• Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, including curriculum oversight and faculty development
• Ability to teach and coach students directly within a personalised, mastery-based learning environment
• Experience with school operations, budgeting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Strong relationship management skills with families, staff, boards, and community stakeholders
• Comfort operating in a small, entrepreneurial school setting with a diverse student body
• Availability for a 10-month contract (1099) at 10 to 20 hours per week, based on-site in Washington, D.C.
