Fractional COO at How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm

How To MANAGE a Small Law Firm (HTM) is the leading provider of Fractional C-Suite services for solo and small law firms, recognised on the Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Companies list consistently since 2013. As a Fractional COO, you will partner with a portfolio of up to 30 law firm owners, building the operating systems, accountability structures, and leadership cadences needed to transform strategic ambitions into daily execution.

This is a full-time, W-2 position offering the variety of fractional engagement alongside the stability of a single employer. Compensation includes a base salary of $110,000 with on-target earnings exceeding $180,000 through performance incentives. Applicants must reside in one of the following states: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA.

• Design and implement scalable operating systems and workflows across client firms
• Build KPI dashboards and establish regular accountability rhythms with firm owners
• Identify and remove operational bottlenecks to improve efficiency and profitability
• Translate high-level strategic goals into concrete weekly execution plans
• Coach firm owners to lead their businesses using data and disciplined accountability practices
• Measure and report on operational outcomes to demonstrate lasting business improvement

• 12 or more years of operational leadership experience, ideally in small business or founder-led environments
• Demonstrated history of directly advising, coaching, or partnering with founders or business owners
• Full P&L ownership responsibility at some point during your career
• Experience supporting businesses in the $1M to $35M+ revenue range
• Current residency in AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA
